When tasked with designing the new headquarters for our firm, the design team saw an opportunity to create an environment that reflects our Mission and Vision and could inspire our work for years to come. We committed early to an integrated design process rooted in industry research and in comprehensive feedback from all stakeholders. As design trends settled from the seismic shakeup of the pandemic, we considered the impact of evolving work styles, the potential of new technology, and internal cultural shifts away from collaborating teams and towards One Team.
External research and internal programming feedback both confirmed a shift away from individual workspaces and towards shared collaboration and amenity spaces. While every employee needs a home base, it was clear that more value was placed on the spaces where people can gather to work together and to simply be together. It also became clear that not everyone works the same way and individuals shift work styles as tasks change. Along with strong support for our downtown location, a clear desire arose for connection to the natural world around us.
Our headquarters responds to these factors with a simple design that promotes flexibility and maximizes functionality and amenity. It emphasizes human wellbeing through access to daylight, active and passive acoustic management, abundant shared spaces that support a range of work styles and allow for genuine human relationship, and plants and imagery that bring the beauty of our region to us. The design acknowledges the ways that remote meeting technology has changed how we work, while supporting face to face collaboration both digital and analog. Achieving LEED Silver Certification, our headquarters showcases our commitment to holistic designs that support occupants and the world they are in. It is a space that positively impacts lives through meaningful design.
