Join Laura Cooney, AIA, for a Code Course focused on building codes, which fundamentally impact the health, safety, and well-being of the public.

This course is Part II of a two part course. Both courses are not required but are encouraged.

This course is similar to the January 2022 codes course; attendees of the prior one day course are discouraged from attending these sessions.

You must attend the entire session to receive AIA learning units.

This course is an overview of the 2020 Building Code of NYS (BCNYS) utilizing graphic examples for participants to better understand how to use the BCNYS and the main code provisions that can affect design, including compliance options, under the following topics for Part II:

• Fire protection systems and fire service features (Fire Code),
• Means of egress overview,
• Handicap accessibility overviews, and
• Brief overview of the NYS Existing Building Code (EBCNYS) format and Classifications of Work compliance path

Learning Objective 2: Understand the different occupancy classifications and provisions for building height and area

Learning Objective 3: Know how to apply mixed occupancies and the difference between construction types
