Passive House resides on a picturesque plot and was destined to become a beacon of eco-conscious architecture in the heart of upstate New York. The site was selected due to its rural characteristics, wooded view sheds and open pasture. It provided for a home that could be orientated with its primary axis going from east-west allowing for southern exposure providing optimal solar characteristics in the house. The homeowners were eager to apply passive house design principles to their new “forever home.” They thoroughly researched and consulted with design experts familiar with passive house principles. The building design incorporates thermal performance, minimal production waste, and best bang for the buck.
