Director of Marketing

The Director of Marketing leads and coordinates marketing and business development efforts for the firm. This position reports to the Managing Partner and works with all Partners, staff, clients, and consultants on a daily basis.


The Director of Marketing role is an essential function at HBT Architects and requires an individual with excellent communication skills, an outgoing personality, and who strives to build our reputation in the community and enhance our firm culture. The Director of Marketing will help lead our firm towards meeting our strategic goals by managing all marketing initiatives.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain the firm’s marketing and business development plan and budget.

  • Coordinate and track business development efforts with and in support of Partners and key staff.

  • Lead and prepare responses to requests for proposals, developing proposal outlines, preparing proposal content, graphics, and layouts, editing and completing proposals.

  • Develop, maintain and expand marketing connections with consultants, new and existing clients, and contacts in the areas of HBT potential business.

  • Coordinate with Partners to enhance HBT’s professional profile and identity, including website, brochures, publications, speaking engagements, and social media.

  • Maintain HBT project data and graphics.

  • Maintain and develop the outreach data base.

  • Manage project photo shoots and maintain contracts with photographers.

  • Research and evaluate marketing leads.

  • Research building typologies, potential clients, market trends, and peers.

  • Lead regular marketing and business development meetings with Marketing Committee.

  • Assist Partners and project teams with client interview preparation and support.

  • Coordinate award submissions, press releases, news items and calls for papers and presentations with direction from Partners.

  • Develop and execute periodic marketing campaigns, community relation events and charitable initiatives.

  • Undertake special projects to advance marketing and business development initiatives.

  • Trains and prepares architectural staff for marketing and business development.



  • 7-10 years of marketing experience with minimum 3 years marketing experience in architecture or engineering office.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to generate initial content for review and edits by Partners and key staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines

  • Knowledgeable about industry, markets, peer firms and services,

  • Excellent research capabilities.

  • Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite to create marketing graphics and proposals.
