Project Technician - Architect

Description

Be responsible for production and development of construction documents, while gaining experience in the Architectural field from peers.

  

Expectations: 

The overall expectations of this position are to produce construction drawings and understand basic construction practices for implementation during construction administration. Additionally, this position will be expected to produce presentation graphics, conceptual 3d models, and be capable of drafting redlines and creating outline floor plans in an efficient manner. Basic construction administration will be performed.  It must be understood that assignments and hence supervision will differ from time to time.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by  behaving and communicating in a professional manner with co-workers, staff,  project managers, other disciplines, and all other employees

  • Be capable of researching product data and  implementing that product data onto construction drawings in an efficient  manner

  • Be capable of taking direction to develop 3d  models for presentation graphics and implement those graphics into a draft  presentation for review 

  • Be capable of interpreting construction drawing  redlines and input those redlines into the media required

  • Be capable of reviewing details from another  project and interpolate the relevant information for the required documents

  • Contact product manufacturers and representatives  to obtain necessary product data

  • Perform multi-discipline coordination as it  pertains to the tasks assigned

  • Start to understand building codes and how they  affect the work being performed

  • Take meeting notes and create draft meeting  minutes for review 

  • Develop a story board for the construction  drawings

  • Capable of developing floor plans, building  section, and outline required details

  • Perform basic construction administration tasks,  submittal review, attend construction meetings, and support project architect  with RFI responses

  • Communicate with the project manager and project  architect

  • Perform field condition surveys with a team to  obtain existing conditions for design and construction documents

  • Prepare submission documents, including but not  limited to printing and collating specifications and drawings

  • Performs other duties as required

 

Requirements

     

Computer Skills: 

· Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) 

· AutoDesk (Revit & AutoCAD)

· Sketchup

· Photoshop

· Illustrator

  

Preferred Education, Certifications and general knowledge: 

 · Associates Degree

· 0-5 Years’ experience

This role requires designers to follow requests precisely while ensuring designs meet rigorous requirements, including safety standards and governmental regulations.

 

Responsibilities for Project Designer

  • Receive project requests and draft designs

  • Utilize necessary physical and digital tools to create initial drafts

  • Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to ensure accuracy of early design work

  • Finalize drafting projects using both 2D and 3D sketching
